The more babies…the more Wunzees I get to make!! Here are the latest 2 commissions I got to do this weekend.

Do you ever feel that just because you have a blog, that you are required to write in it? I feel like up to this point I’ve been pretty good about 3-4 entries a week, sometimes up to 7. I don’t really have anything to say right now, so I’ve been kind of dark for a few days. I enjoy looking at my analytics and knowing that people are actually reading my blog. I sometimes fear that if I stop writing, people will stop….but I guess I shouldn’t feel obligated to write about nothing ….like I’m doing now.
Its been a pretty lazy Saturday. I’ve been staring at a huge pile of laundry for a week and a half that keeps growing, and I remember why I covet my own washer/dryer. But alas…with no water hookups, no washer/dryer. I’ll get it washed tomorrow…yah, I keep saying that.
I’m going to leave you blog world, likely till Monday, when I come back with an Etsy Tag Monday, and I want to share this video that my friend introduced me to. If you have 5 minutes, its worth the watch. This poor guy has been diagnosed with TB, but is making the most of his weeks of quarantine by making videos. Pretty entertaining.
Wedding planning has been awesome up to this point. So fun to find the DJ, pick the colors, find the dress and start to get all the little details sorted out. We even went looking at tux’s for the guys yesterday. So fun! But the dreams have started.
The anxiety ridden dreams. Like when I worked at a restaurant and I had the dreams of getting sat 6 tables at the same time and forgetting what they all ordered. Like when I was in school and I forgot where my classes were or didn’t show up for a test I had forgotten to study for. Like my attending a fancy party but falling into a pit of mud on my way. I fall into a lot of mud in my dreams. This is why I know that I need to start breathing and figure out some stuff in order to avoid having more of these dreams. I’ve already had a few wedding related ones. I wake up in sweats.
My organization is pretty solid for the wedding. I have an Excel file with guests names and addresses. I have successfully sent out the Save the Date cards. I guess my fear right now….is that I under estimated. I have sent out more cards than I thought I was going to. My catering manager quoted me at a number that I thought I’d be able to hit, but now…I think I may be over. The worst part, is that I wont really know where I’m at until the RSVP’s start coming in….and that happens AFTER the invites go out, which is in a few months. Sacrifices on things that I had wanted at my wedding may have to be made.
I’m in a state of needing to please, and I’m in a state of sheer terror that things will be forgotten and that I will forget something major. I need to keep a list of things that have to get done in the next 5 months. I need to tier them out according to a time line. I’m getting freaked out every time I log into The Knot and the tell me how many days till my wedding. I obviously don’t need to write the menus until I know what we are eating. I don’t need to do table assignments until I know who is coming. The last few months will be filled with to-do’s. Who is in charge of making sure everything gets done the day of the wedding? I obviously will be getting pampered and dressed. Is someone that I invited going to take that role? These are all my nerves talking right now. I need to throw a good party. I want everyone to be happy. But I definitely want to make sure that I continue to have fun in this process and make the day about us….no one else.
Rant over.
We have four colors for our wedding. All of them are bright and bold and perfect for a summer wedding. I have decided that for the next few weeks, my Etsy Tag Monday will be using the colors, but specifically in the wedding category. The first of the four is RED. I figure while I’m browsing for the little details for my wedding, I might as well share them with you! I’ve included a few more items than I usually do…it was so hard to choose!
I fell in love with these pompoms today. PartyPom has a ton of colors and sizes…definitely a great addition to any decor.
I would make a point of finding a reason to use these LOVE tags from Perch Papier.
This asymmetrical rose necklace by Maria Elena Jewlery would be a lovely bridesmaid accessory.
Crafty Crew makes this Crafted Ash Wood Wedding Wishes Address File Box. I think that this would be a great way to have your guests leave a little note and to collect their addresses in the process. Its pretty too!
This little clutch could be used for the bridal party, or as the brides accessory as well. TulipCouture will custom make them as well.
Its fairly obvious what this garter from BellaPrincessBridal would be used for…super sexy to boot.
If I was having a beach themed wedding, this coral ring bearer pillow by WhistleThistleBridal would be perfect!
I have a Star Wars geek fiance, and I’m sure others do too! How perfect are these Storm Trooper cuff links by CrimsonKing.
Today was amazing. A few friends, Mick and myself all took a short road trip and went to Harley Farm in Pescadero, CA. It was a rainy day, but the tour that we signed up for was rain or shine, so onward we went. Something was looking over us though, because only a few minutes before we arrived did the rain lift, and then it started again on our way home…but no rain at the farm.
The reason we headed there…was because its a Goat Farm!!! Seriously. Between Mick’s love for goats, my blogs namesake, and all of our love for some amazing fresh cheese, it was a no-brainer.
This farm was awesome. They weren’t in milking season, because all of the females were pregnant! In fact, they had their first kids born in 2010 a few weeks ago, and one of the goats had 4 on Friday! 4!!! They were 2 days old, and our tour group was able to hold them and pet them and snuggle their little soft faces. They are so cute! They bleeted, and bahhed, and were as soft as kittens. Little Goats!!!
In the area with all of the goats, while we were standing and hanging out with them, one started to have contractions. We waited around for a bit, but she didn’t give birth in the time we were there. How amazing would that have been? The other ones were using us as scratching posts, nuzzling, and smelling us with their mouths. It was pretty much the best “petting zoo” ever.
We were told the history of the farm, taken on a tour of the cheese-making facility, and even got to try all of their cheeses. Needless to say, we all headed to the dairy shop after, and bought quite a few of the fresh goat cheeses…in addition to some fresh ravioli which I got to dine on tonight. It was AMAZING.
Some of the photos from today are below. You can see the whole set here.

Alright…so I mentioned last week that I wanted to make homemade ricotta. There are a ton of recipes out there, all easy, but I chose the simple one that uses ONLY whole milk, salt and lemon. I went to Whole Foods and bought the cheesecloth necessary, and came home to get to work.
I got my milk simmering, put the lemon juice in it so it would start curdling…and then realized I DONT HAVE A SLOTTED SPOON! (It felt like a “taste the soup” moment from Coming to America)
How am I supposed to get the curds off the top of the milk if I dont have a slotted spoon? I tried using a spatula, I tried using a fork. Nothing. So, I’d say I got 6 curds total, sitting in my cheesecloth, and have a pot of what is now warm milk.
FAIL.
This is why I guess its good I’m getting married in 5 months. Slotted spoon on the registry..Check.
So, after finding my dress I realized that the next stylistic challenge will be my hair and veil. I am not a classic bride (though my dress was not what I had originally sought out). There are so many beautiful veils out there, but I just don’t think that a lot of them are my style. I don’t feel like a long veil kind of girl. I actually asked the woman at the bridal shop if she thought that my dress would work with a birdcage veil, because I just love the way they look. Our venue is somewhat Art Deco, and my dress has a somewhat vintage feel to it, so I thought that the birdcage would be a nice touch. I’m going to stick with that assessment and go with it.
But herein lies the question. If I’m going with vintage, do I want to skip the veil all together, and just go with a headband? A flower or feather in my hair? A combination of all of the above? I have been browsing up a storm, getting inspiration from specific designers, so I thought I’d share a few that I’ve found. Some of these are a little pricey, and I would love to find something just as lovely on Etsy for less.

I don't know where this came from, but I like it.
I put our save the dates in the mail today….yeee!
This is what they would have looked like if Mick made them. He did a good job, but in the end we didn’t need to use this design. Not too shabby huh?

This is Micks rendering of what we wanted them to look like…sent to our talented artist friend. I am not posting the final version here….yet, though it’s kind of close to this. Use your imaginations…

We have been the proud owners of our pain in the ass cat for 10 months or so….and while we do love her, for whatever reason we have neglected getting her a house of her own till now. We have a scratching post she ignores, countless toys and non-toys that she prefers to play with, and more love than we can give. However, due to her incessant whining and complaining that she didn’t have a house, we caved and went in search of a discount cat house. They are so expensive!!
I wanted to share this site with all the cat lovers, and let you know that you don’t have to build your cat a McMansion for a ton of money…its a buyers housing market.
CatBedandToy.com is based out of Australia, but the time it took to get the house in didn’t feel like international travel. Some of these homes are pretty extravagant, and unless your home has vaulted ceilings, a 72 inch house might be a bit big for your cat. I personally wanted to get this one…I thought Gertie would like the hammock (or I would just want to see her in it)
I opted for the shorter one, but still multiple levels, and when all was said and done with shipping and tax, it cost me less than $70. Compared with the $150 + price tags I see in the stores, that was quite the deal. She looks happy doesn’t she?

Though it has a greater history that goes back over centuries, for me and many others, the fleur-de-lis is often associated with areas formerly settled by France, such as Quebec, St. Louis, Louisville, and Louisiana.I know that there are a few things that I always associate it with, so that is why there are so many reasons to choose the Fleur de lis as my tag today. 1) I’m super excited about my upcoming first time visit to NOLA for Jazz Fest in April. 2)The Saints won the Superbowl! and 3) Fat Tuesday is tomorrow, and its Mardi Gras time!!
I think that these bookends by Knob Creek Metal Arts add a touch of class to any living room.
Eeeps! Fleur de lis baby shoes by Child of Privilege !! So cute.
Sew Many Doodles has a few items with the Fleur de lis, but this stool caught my eye.
Bmused has an amazing collection of belt buckles, some with more apparent Fleur de lis than this one, but I am seriously considering this one for my collection. I like the muted pattern and color pallate.
This Mirliton soap is made from a cajun gourd and stamped with the Fleur de lis. Sweet Olive Soap Works is based in NOLA, so its only fitting.
You can show your pride with these cute earrings from Stella Designs.
