More Holga – Valentines Day edition

I know its almost a month ago, but I just got around to picking up my film from V-day this year. Mick and I went to Sonoma for the day. There were surprisingly some really good shots from the roll! Below are a few of my favorites. You can see the rest of my Holga shots here.

Holga: Round 2

I’m feeling great today. I just got my first dose of the true holiday spirit.  I dropped my roll of film off the other day at Adolph Gasser, which is the closest and best photo lab in close proximity to my office. I went to pick up the film today, and was chatting with the dude behind the counter.

“This is just my second roll on the Holga”

“Man, I got even less successful photos than last time.”

“I should really get some sort of tutorial on this, though the wait and anticipation to see what works is fun”

More idle chit chat, he commented on my photos, took the 2 new rolls I asked for out of the fridge, and then went to ring me up. It was taking a minute, and he blamed it on the new POS. I guess he hadn’t figured it out yet…but I didn’t mind waiting. It took him a few…and then he just stopped and looked at me.

“Happy holidays. I don’t really want to deal with this, so take the rolls of film, and your developed ones and call it a Christmas present.”

He just let me leave with all my shit! Honestly…thats awesome. I’m sure he was up there in the management ranks because I don’t think that most normal sales associates can do that…but wow. Awesome.

With that…I bring you a few of the new ones, and you can of course check out the rest on my Flickr site.

I love the different types of images you can capture. I was trying to figure out what the below one was, and then I remembered it was me looking out my window at work. The street lights and my office lights.

Hooray for the Holga!

I got my first set of Holga photos developed today. Let’s forget the fact that on a roll of 12 photos, I only got 8 developed. I passed the number one while winding the film, and I guess the others just weren’t even able to be processed. For a first attempt though, I’m excited at the way some of them turned out!

I kind of love this thing. I can’t wait to actually experiment with it, now that I know what its capable of (sort of), and how to properly wind the film. This roll was 160VC, and the next i bought is going to be 400. With more light being let in on the next roll, I can take more indoor shots. This is such a cool medium because you really never know what you are going to get. Do you even remember what it was like to not use a screen to check your photos after taking them? I forgot how much fun it was to get my film developed! You can see the other ones on my Flickr Set.

If only the mail(person) did her job

I’d be able to play with this!!

It’s sitting at the USPS…waiting for me…but I can’t get it because I work the hours the post office is open! I left the note telling them to re-deliver, but they didn’t. Because the mail(person) doesn’t know how to do her job.. (this isn’t an isolated incident).

And so it waits…and the longer I do too.

Soon I can become inspired. Soon the vignette will be visible. Soon…
